In May 07th, 1969 the RI State Sheriff's FOP Lodge # 24 charter was
authorized and granted by the Grand Lodge Fraternal Order of Police.
The original chartered elected officers who were legally formed the
lodge:
Robert E. Lessard (President), Nelson Harris (Vice President),
Michael J. Derocher (Secretary), George Manupelli (Treasurer),
Frederick M. Sargent (Chaplain), Joseph M. Cabral (Conductor),
Alfred D'Andrea Jr. (Trustee), Paul T. Gilman (Trustee), Robert N.
Melucci (Guard), Albert Lancellotta (Trustee), and John C. Jemma.
This Charter that was legally formed and granted to above successors
for the purpose of constituting a branch of the Fraternal Order of
Police in Providence, State of Rhode Island to be known as Sheriff's
lodge # 24 of the Fraternal Order of Police. This Charter was
witness and signed by the Grand Lodge National Secretary Anthony W.
Coyne along with Grand Lodge National President John J. Harrington.
We the members of Rhode Island State Sheriffs Fraternal Order of
Police Lodge No. 24 unite for the good of our members and to
encourage legislation, negotiations, and better relations between
the members and the State of Rhode Island. We further strive to
inculcate loyalty and allegiance to the United States of America; to
promote and foster the enforcement of Law and Order; to improve the
individual proficiency of our members in the performance of their
duties; to encourage social, charitable, and educational activities
among law enforcement officers; to create a tradition of esprit de
corps insuring fidelity to duty under all conditions and
circumstances; to cultivate a spirit of fraternalism and mutual
helpfulness among our members and people we serve; to increase the
efficiency of the law enforcement professional and thus more firmly
to establish the confidence of the public in the service dedicated
to the protection of life and property.
To accomplish our goals and objectives the RI State Sheriff's FOP
Lodge # 24 incorporated as a non-profit organization and remains
active to the present. |
